Woodcock, Snipe and Grouse in Harris, Scottish Isles

Woodcock snipe and Grouse over pointers on South and North Harris Scottish Isles.

The estate covers over 10,000 acres of wild rock strewn hills, moors and lochs on the south east coast of Lewis including Seaforth Island, with more than 20,000 plus acres of further shooting and stalking rights on North Harris.

This impressive 18th century hunting and fishing lodge has magnificent views down Loch Sea forth to the Isle of Skye. It has five double or twin bedrooms (with two more available in the cottage) and provides comfortable accommodation for 10. The lodge is offered on a self catered basis, but a cook may be available by arrangement. In inclement weather, the estate can offer table tennis, darts etc.

Salmon & trout fishing, stalking, walked-up grouse, snipe & woodcock in season.

Shooting:
Snipe are available from October onwards and woodcock from November onwards. In recent years, annually as many as 120 woodcock are shot each season both in the forestry and on the moor on two annual shoots the grouse moors per season depending on count in the summer months. In the forestry, there are driven days, elsewhere over pointers. Three day shooting weekends make an ideal winter break.

The Estate:
Is an all round sporting estate ideal for family parties which can cater for beginners or experienced parties, and has much to offer people not interested in fishing or shooting. The highest mountain on the islands, Clisham, is nearby, a stiff climb but wonderful views. Wildlife abounds, eagles, peregrines, merlins, sea eagles, snowy owls, seals, otters and dolphins may all be spotted. The beaches of Lewis and Harris are a wonderful well-kept secret, and although they are an hour or so away, they are often empty and make a fantastic family outing.

Program while there:

Day 1:
Arrive evening or late afternoon at the lodge supper will be available and we will show you to your rooms, a drink to celebrate the coming shoot will be held in the evening and we will answer any questions the party has (we have an Italian speaking guide to assist us). Bob Glynn will be your personal liason while on the estate to ensure an enjoyable safe and successful shooting program.

Day 2 - 3 or 4 and longer:
Breakfast is from 0730am till 0845. We meet outside lodge for safety talk at 9am first day, please bring insurance we will provide game licences in your cost, we will transport you to the shooting area each morning lunch is provided in the field each day for the party and dinner commences at 19.30 each evening.
