Driven Woodcock hunt in Somerset, Nr Taunton.

General Game season - 1st October - 1st February - we only shoot Woodcock from the 1st week of DECEMBER and we limit numbers of birds shot this iscompany policy from 2019 to protect our native birds

Driven Woodcock hunt in Somerset near Taunton over 3500 acres of amazing “woodcock” ground.

Driven woodcock shooting at its best we have access to a tailor made woodcock estate suitable for 8 guns hunting with Springer spaniels and Labradors.

If conditions are right large numbers of woodcock will be lifted and in these conditions 70-100 are possible per day depending on shooters ability to kill, the hunt is also about enjoying the fantastic scenery and the hunting of truly wild birds we start at 0900hrs, have a short break for lunch and finish around 15.30 - 1600hrs.

There is no bag limit if numbers permit and even on a dismal day you can expect to take home at least 15 of these birds at worst a lovely rounded woodcock area. Evening flighting will be arranged on a poor day but is not usually necessary. Best Time of the season November - January.

What you need on the day gun and ammunition use high velocity 7,8's - you will encounter duck and pheasant as well as snipe so 7’s are a better all round game shot.

Good boots suitable clothing for varied conditions own transport 4x4 and packed lunch. We can arrange an early morning or late evening deer stalk for anyone interested.
